Good morning/afternoon/evening – wherever you are when you read this.
I stopped this morning in need of something soothing for my throat as I’d done a lot of talking on my commute to work. For those who may not know, I’m undergoing some unexplained vocal cord changes and having to endure speech therapy. There’s some acid damage that’s ripping up my throat – not to worry – it’s all in the works and in the hands of the medical professionals.
But…something soothing. My usual (well, old usual) favorite coffee shop normally offers teas, but today I found something I’d never heard of. Golden Milk. It’s oat milk, honey, turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg. And served warm.
Can’t get more soothing than that.
And it reminded me: sometimes the best self-care we have is what we can find in an instant; just a moment of reprieve. A small way to honor our bodies and our battles. Which leads me to today’s quote:
“Just when you feel you have no time to relax, know that this is the moment you most need to make time to relax.”
― Matt Haig, Reasons to Stay Alive
Whatever your day, week, month, and years may bring, may you always find time to literally stop. And smell the roses. Find a reason to genuinely smile. Admire a trait you possess. Compliment someone. Savor what life we do have.
Be well. Even when we’re broken.
Much love,
Lisa
