Feel Good Fridays

Ripples in rainbow-colored water

It’s Friday!!!  We made it through another week.  And today’s Feel Good Friday quote is more of a challenge…to you!

“It’s sad that in a world of billions, people can still feel isolated and alone. Sometimes all it takes to brighten up someone’s day is a smile or kind word, or the generous actions of a complete stranger. Small things, the tiny details, these are the things that matter in life — the little glint in the eye, curve of a lip, nod of a head, wave of a hand — such minuscule movements have huge ripple effects.” ~Shaun Hick

So go out there, toss out some kindness and a smile, hold the door open for a stranger, give a buck to someone in need, or pass out a sincere compliment!  Let’s make this world a better place, one smile at a time, today.  And tomorrow.  And next week!

Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend!

blue butterfly

Today’s quote is an anonymous one, which was shared with me yesterday by Sister Develyn Angels…and I loved it.

“Butterflies are nature’s tragic heroes. They live most of their lives being completely ordinary. And then, one day, the unexpected happens. They burst from their cocoons in a blaze of colors and become utterly extraordinary. It is the shortest phase of their lives, but it holds the greatest importance. It shows us how empowering change can be.” ~ Anonymous

Afraid of change?  Suddenly struck by it? Remember this quote…and fly!

Happy Friday!  And have a great weekend.

Feel Good Fridays

So, I’m reading Endometrioisis A Comprehensive Update, which was published late last year by Springer.  There’s a wonderful little quote that I just have to share.  The authors say a Scottish physician in 1774 described the symptoms of Endometriosis:

“In its worst stages, this disease affects the well-being of the female patient totally and adversely, her whole spirit is broken, and yet she lives in fear of still more symptoms such as further pain, the loss of consciousness and convulsions.”

I don’t know the physician’s name, or if it was, indeed, Endometriosis he was describing, but this quote really hit home.  I don’t know about you, EndoWarriors, but I do fear it returning…

On that note : HAPPY FRIDAY!

A single lightbulb

We made it through another week!

Today’s quote is by Marie Curie:

“Certain bodies… become luminous when heated. Their luminosity disappears after some time, but the capacity of becoming luminous afresh through heat is restored to them by the action of a spark…”

Why do I love this quote?  To me, it represents our passions in life.  We may be overwhelmed by passion for a particular subject or activity, but lose it for one reason or another.  It could be the topic no longer interests us, or that we had to “drop” it due to physical or emotional roadblocks.  Does that make us any less (fill in the blank)?  No.  We are still whole.  We still have “the capacity of becoming luminous afresh…”

This holds true for every aspect in our lives: a bad break-up, an unexplained sadness, the loss of a friend or loved one, a personal defeat.  We lose something, but are we any less?  No.  We may have a void, but we are still us.  We still have that ability to be full…to be luminous.

And at any time, our spark may return, either self-imposed or by the spark of another.  Ignite each other. Inspire each other.  Imagine the ripple effect.  Imagine the glow.

Ronald Reagan

We made it through another week!

Today’s quote is by former American President Ronald Reagan:

“There is no limit to the amount of good you can do if you don’t care who gets the credit.”

Ha. It’s perfect and so very true.

Have a wonderful weekend!  And go out and do some good.

Yours,

Lisa

A highlighted definition of the word hope

We made it through another week.  And January is halfway over…already.  Time flies.

Today’s quote is by Shailee J-N, and it’s my hope for you today:

“I hope your heart feels better.
I hope your mind is set right.
I hope your love is connected to others, and you don’t feel so lost and locked up.
I hope everything is okay for you.
And by okay, I mean greater than ever.”

I truly do.

Yours,

Lisa

It’s Friday!  Today’s quote is by Nemo Cox, and I fell in love with it:

“Rocks in my path? I keep them all. With them I shall build my castle.”

2016 starting out a bit rocky?  Build from it.  You’ll overcome this! Whatever it is.  And if you need help, ask for it.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Yours,

Lisa

Feel Good Friday

First of all, Happy New Year!!!  It’s 2016.  A new day.  A new month.  A new YEAR!  I know not all of you had a happy or easy 2015, and this post is for you:

“Happy New Year’ is a festive form of address often uttered without thinking. Yet how many souls will in fact be happy in the coming year is a taxing question requiring a great deal more thought.”

and

“New Year – a new chapter, new verse, or just the same old story ? Ultimately we write it. The choice is ours.”

Both of these quotes are by Alex Morritt, author of Impromptu Scribe.

For any struggles or battles you may have fought and lost in 2015, hang on.  If you need help, reach out and ask for it.  If you need someone to lean on, find someone.  Feel free to let your true self show this year; don’t hide behind a fake smile.

And if you need me, I’m here.

We made it through another week.  Yes, YOU made it through another week.

Today’s quote is from Dr. Jamie Weisman.  A simple, uplifting quote, especially if you have (or someone you know has) a chronic illness:

“Most people live in fear of some terrible event changing their lives, the death of a loved one or a serious illness. For the chronically ill, this terrible event has already happened, and we have been let in on an amazing secret: You survive. You adapt, and your life changes, but in the end you go on, with whatever compromises you have been forced to make, whatever losses you have been forced to endure. You learn to balance your fears with the simple truth that you must go on living.”

These same words are true for everyone, whether they have a chronic illness or not.  This “amazing secret” can be applied to any circumstance in life that you may be going through.  Pull through.  Speak with friends.  Ask for help.  You will endure.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Yours, Lisa
