Feel Good Fridays!

Happy Friday!!!  I hope today you’re well rested and not swamped with Holiday Madness!

Fawn Germer wrote,

“Stop what you are doing. Go outside and breathe. The world will not end if you take ten minutes for yourself.”

I’d love it if you were actually able to do this today.  Take that breath and those few minutes to yourself.  Find beauty in the small things around you.  Embrace the scent and the chill of the air.  Find something that makes you smile. Refocus.  It’s okay to do it. Every day. ❤

Have a wonderful weekend!

Yours, Lisa

Red roses

Happppppy Friday!  We made it through yet another week.  2016 is nearing a close, already!!

Today’s quote is from French author, Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr, back in 1853.  The original French verse read:

De leur meilleur côté tâchons de voir les choses:
Vous vous plaignez de voir les rosiers épineux;
Moi je me réjouis et rends grâces aux dieux
Que les épines aient des roses.

Once translated into English:

Let us try to see things from their better side:
You complain about seeing thorny rose bushes;
Me, I rejoice and give thanks to the gods
That thorns have roses.

A little skew in perspective can be a glorious thing!  May you find your roses this weekend, and throughout next week.  ❤

text that reads "Just Be."

We made it through another week!  Well, two weeks, since I skipped last week due to the holidays!

Today’s quote is a simple one.  Something to take to heart and act upon.  Roy T. Bennett wrote,

“Be mindful. Be grateful. Be positive. Be true. Be kind.”

I’m going to print it out and tape it to several things to remind me…

Have a wonderful weekend.

Happy Friday! Whew, what an incredibly busy week it’s been! Hoping to get back into the swing of blogging next week –

But today – today it’s FRIDAY! And you know what that means!!!  I was driving to work this morning thinking of the strong EndoWarriors I’ve met along this journey.  And it hit me: we are resilient.  We may have our downs, but we also have our ups.  And we don’t give up.  So today’s quote is from Chinonye J. Chidolue:

“Toss me like a dough and watch me RISE!”

I love it. It is such a simple phrase for such greatness! Flexible, moldable, resilience.  Dough may tear, but can be easily smooshed back together to become something great (and delicious!)  It is formed by kneading and heat – adversity and trials.

Rise up, you!! You incredibly resilient person.  Bounce back.  Mold yourself and become who you know you truly are.

Happy Friday!

I know a lot of you are in anguish over the election results.  Some of you are joyous.  Some of you are in physical pain today.  Others embrace a less-pained day.  It’s the weekend! Some have plans for adventure, others plan to stay in bed and snuggle the cat.

Every one one of us is different.  One thing that’s been stressed to me over the past two weeks is embracing the silver lining…in any situation.  Find the good.  Find some light in the darkness, even the smallest glint.  The silver lining.  Focus on that.  Don’t let it go.

Adam Silvera wrote,

“I’ve become this happiness scavenger who picks away at the ugliness of the world, because if there’s happiness tucked away in my tragedies, I’ll find it no matter what.”

Am I just talking politics today? No.  I’m talking politics, pain, emotions, finances, ups & downs, fears, worries, and joys – life in general.

Feel Good Fridays!

We made it through another week.  And today’s quote is inspired by my first Pain & Stress Management Class I attended this week.  E. Joseph Cossman once said:

“If you want to test your memory, try to recall what you were worrying about one year ago today.”

Worrying a causes stress…stress can cause anxiety and physically manifest as pain.  If you must worry, worry about the things you can control – not the things you cannot change.

For some tips on how to manage some worries, check out Harvard Health’s tips for reducing stress. I’ve since downloaded The Worry Box app for my tablet. 🙂

Happy Friday! And try not to worry this weekend!

Lisa in a skull cap for breast cancer awareness labeled "For Aunty Bunny"

Good morning! And happy Friday!!!

Today is October 21, 2016 – the day for the “Be Bold, Be Bald” cancer awareness and fundraiser campaign.  So, while I wear my fancy bald cap in solidarity of my friends and loved ones who are either still fighting cancer, have survived, or have passed on – I’m using today’s festivities as inspiration for today’s quote:

“My silences had not protected me. Your silence will not protect you. But for every real word spoken, for every attempt I had ever made to speak those truths for which I am still seeking, I had made contact with other women while we examined the words to fit a world in which we all believed, bridging our differences.” ~Audre Lorde (who passed in 1992 from liver cancer)

Audre’s words ring true for SO many issues in life.  Talk about things: with your friends, your family, your physicians, strangers – bridge those gaps.  You have no idea what similarities you share or what insights you may provide.

And have a wonderful weekend!

Feel Good Fridays

People walking on a sand dune in a vast desert

Today had a stressful beginning for me.  So, my stress has inspired today’s Feel Good Friday quote!

It is, of course, written by Frank Herbert, the author of Dune, one of my all-time favorite movies:

“The mind can go either direction under stress—toward positive or toward negative: on or off. Think of it as a spectrum whose extremes are unconsciousness at the negative end and hyperconsciousness at the positive end. The way the mind will lean under stress is strongly influenced by training.”

I had to keep telling myself it will all be okay, that I have the money to handle this and that, to keep breathing, to force the shaking hands and shaky breaths to go away.  To think POSITIVE thoughts instead of negative ones.

Yes, car repairs may be costly.  But, I have the funds for them.  And if the total goes above my means, I’ll find a way.  And even better?  The repairs may be an easy and cheap fix! I cannot dwell on what I won’t know until next week. Let. It. Go.

Yes, I was late to work because of the car trouble.  But, my employer is understanding and will allow me to make up the time. No harm, no foul.

I spun myself up into a stressful little tizzy-ball last night and had trouble falling and staying asleep.  If I had embraced the positive thoughts and released the lack of control and stress, I would have slept better.  I don’t know what the repairs will cost.  And I don’t know what the repairs will entail…until I know, I shouldn’t dwell on it.

Which brings to mind another Frank Herbert Dune quote, “Fear is the mind killer…”  Let. It. Go!

What are you dealing with that’s stressful right now? Are you able to find the positive spin?  Focus on the known and not the unknown?  Try to deflate the sense of urgency and desperation?

I hope you guys have a good weekend! I plan to. 🙂
