My uterus is bloomin’!

Bloomin' Uterus logo that reads: I will endure. I will flourish. And I am still beautiful.

For any of you who are new to the page, and THANK YOU for following my musings, I wanted to explain a bit about this whole Bloomin’ Uterus thing. 🙂

I was diagnosed with Endometriosis after surgery this past June.  My nurse once described Endometriosis like crab grass…it just lives there and grows and grows and grows, despite how much you cut it out. So I felt disgusting and gross on the inside…until I created the Bloomin’ Uterus! It’s a graphic that helps me feel better about what’s growin’ and goin’ on with my body.  It was designed before I learned that the uterus likely doesn’t have anything to do with Endometriosis…But, it’s done. And I love it still.

A few days after I made the graphic of the Bloomin’ Uterus, I wanted to make buttons to spread around the world. So, I did! It’s turned into a beautiful and fun coping mechanism.

And each button I sell ($2 each), the entire sale price goes to the Endometriosis Foundation of America. I pocket nothing.  I shoulder the costs of ordering the buttons, as well as pay all shipping and handling to those who purchase the buttons.  So not only am I helping spread beauty to this ugly disease, I’m also spreading Endometriosis Awareness, and helping raise funds to help end this terrible disease. It feels damned good.

Endometriosis has changed my life. Knowing that there’s a reason for my pain is wonderful.  And knowing that this tiny little logo and button make women feel better about their own Endo just brings so much light into my life.  I wear mine every day.  And have met so many women with Endo, or someone who has it in their family, when people ask what it’s all about.

If you would like more info on the Bloomin’ Uterus button or would like to get one of your own, you can donate to the fundraiser.  And if you do buy a button, please send me a photo of yourself with it so I can add you to the Gallery O’Buttons. 🙂  Together, we can make a difference!
