Endometriosis & Perineum

A starfish on the sand
It’s the only photo I could think of that wasn’t … vulgar

Well, this was a first for me.

I’ve read numerous studies of Endometriosis developing in scar tissue after c-sections or other abdominal surgeries, but this one caught me by such surprise that I wanted to share it with you!  It’s important to any EndoWarriors who may have delivered children naturally and have complaints of pain…”down there.”  Read on!

Feel Good Fridays!

Two hands reaching out for each other

We made it through yet another week!  I hope yours was well.

Today’s quote was written by Mark Vonnegut:

“We are here to help each other get through this thing, whatever it is.”

I absolutely loved the simplicity, but bold truth, of this quote.  Be there for one another, in all things.  Nobody should go through (fill in the blank) feeling alone.

And have wonderful weekend!

BLOGS I’VE UPDATED THIS WEEK:

Endometriosis & Leg Pain/Sciatica – added an April 2017 study published in the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology which followed up with women five years after a resection of sciatic nerve due to Endometriosis.

Endometriosis & the Bowel – added an April 2017 letter to the editor of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology about using high-intensity ultrasound to remove deep infiltrating endometriosis from the rectosigmoid colon.

Possible relief from painful sex or penetration? Vuva Magnetic Dilators.

VuvaTech's welcome kit with literature, two dilatros, lube, and a carrying pouch

Vuva-whata-what?

I found these little pink … things … back in October 2016 when I was experience A LOT of pain with sexual intercourse.  I mean, a lot.  I was desperate.  After reading the reviews on how many others who use Vuva Magnetic Dilators had relief from painful sex, I was hooked.  But…I also couldn’t afford to purchase the kit.  And, let’s face it – I had my doubts about magnets in dilators (dildos?) helping me with anything.

So, I wrote the company.  Tara, the creator and founder, immediately wrote me back.  She, too, suffers from Endometriosis.  She also suffers from Vulvodynia and said her magnetic dilators helped her tremendously with her vaginal and pelvic pain, especially with sex!  AND – she offered to send me two dilators for free because she truly believed they would help and wanted to help other’s in pain.

2017 Best Endometriosis Blog Award!

Badge that reads "healthline best blogs endometriosis 2017"

Oh man! Here we go again!

Healthline surprised me with naming Bloomin’ Uterus one of 2017’s Best Endometriosis Blogs!  AUGH!  I’m so excited, and honored, and proud, and grateful, and overwhelmed!

Side-by-side with the Endometriosis Foundation of America’s blog, Dr. Seckin’s blog, Endometriosis Australia’s blog, Endometriosis.org, and so many other bloggers that I admire and respect!  It’s a huge honor for us all.  And I hope that each of these blogs will help point others in the right direction for their treatment (whatever their course may be), finding answers, and bonding with other EndoWarriors.  We are a great community.

I know not everyone likes or agrees with everything I write.  And that’s okay.  We are each allowed to form our own opinions, ideas, thoughts, and paths.  But I hope that I am at least able to encourage thoughts, conversations, and support.

To scope out the other winners, please check out Heathline’s list!

Much love to you.

Free Webinar: Fighting Back Against Endo

Event flyer for Lisa Howard webinar

Our friends with the Endometriosis Family Support Group have reached out and will be allowing me the great honor of speaking for their monthly Webinar this month!  So, on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 7pm PST, please feel free to join us!  It’s FREE!  Registration is required, though, so you receive log-in information.  Please email Megan at megan@RMCcharity.org to RSVP.

I’ll be speaking about how you, yes YOU, can fight back in little ways.  Since I’ve no medical or nutritional background, I’m not talking about the diet, exercise, pills, procedures, supplements, or surgeries – nah.  Not that.

I mean the small ways of fighting back.  Regaining a sense of control.  Giving back to the Endo community, participating in studies, fundraising for an organization, speaking to schools, embracing other EndoWarriors, etc.  We don’t have to have loads of money, be a part of a corporation, or work for a non-profit in order to make a difference.  We can just make a difference in our own communities, for our own lives, and for those around us. ❤

Again, if you’d like to come watch, register via email to Megan.  If you cannot attend that night, it is being recorded and will be shared later. 🙂

Feel Good Fridays!

Two toddlers sitting next to each other overlooking an ocean pier

Friday!!!! We made it through yet another week!

At the 1992 Republic National Convention, Barbara Bush said, “To us, family means putting your arms around each other and being there.”  And it is so very, very, very true.  To each of the EndoSisters I’ve met in person, hugged in person, cried with in person; I consider you family.  We are knit together by lesions, adhesions, pain, and strength.  And to those I’ve only virtually-met or hugged…the same goes for you. 😉  We truly are Sisters.

“Family” means so much more than shared genes and lineage.   Be there for each other.  Support one another.  Reach out for help when you need it.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

BLOGS I’VE UPDATED THIS WEEK:

Natural Products that I’ve Fallen in Love With – added Anders Farms’ wool dryer balls, Natural Value Bathroom Tissue (Tooooilet Pappppper!), and Seventh Generation’s disinfecting bathroom cleaner.

New Study: migration of Endometriosis cells throughout the organs of mice

Small brown mouse

On April 6, 2017, Oncotarget published an article which I’ll be briefly discussing here today.

Researchers took mice and implanted Endometriosis cells inside of of their pelvic regions wanting to see if the Endometriosis cells would migrate to extra-pelvic organs.   They later analyzed the organs for microscopic Endometriosis-derived cells throughout the mice and found that it had migrated to the lungs, spleen, livers, and brains in many of the mice.

Feel Good Fridays

Text that reads "Good Deeds Day"

Happy Friday!!!  Another week, come and gone.

My Mum bought me a Quotationary book and I love it!  So, today’s quote is from that book and by John Wesley,

“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.”

Why do anything other than good?  Take this, run away with it, and have a wonderful weekend!!!
